Nottingham Light Night is set to illuminate the city this weekend. One of the highlights is "Our Beating Heart," a rotating sculpture in Old Market Square adorned with thousands of mirror fragments, accompanied by a heart-themed soundtrack and lighting by Luminism. This is just one of more than 30 immersive and interactive light-based attractions and performances taking place around the city.

Another noteworthy installation is "The World Has Gone Pear Shaped," a six-meter tall inflatable light sculpture in Sussex Street, using NASA's 3D images to highlight human impact on the earth. Loop presents "Geist," a large-scale light installation inspired by the elusive neutrino, making its international debut at Canary Wharf before arriving in Sneinton Market Square. Visitors to Nottingham Castle can enjoy neon lights by artist Chila Kumari Burman, along with an art exhibit by Bluecoat Aspley Academy students. Nottingham Contemporary hosts "UBX: SUCCESSION," an immersive dance performance with exclusive music by ITAL TEK, while City Arts presents pop-up carnival performances in the city's new civic space.

Additionally, there will be music and belly dancing performances at Binks Yard, a multi-sensory experience called "Standing Ground" at St. Mary's Church, and numerous other installations and exhibitions across the city centre, including Green's Windmill, Nottingham Trent University's Newton Building, William Booth Memorial Centre, and Nottingham College Art School.

Nottingham Light Night, in its 16th year, prioritizes sustainability by using zero-carbon electricity. Visitors can plan their visit using the free It's In Nottingham app or obtain printed guides from the Tourism Centre. The event is produced by Nottingham City Council and It's in Nottingham, funded by It's in Nottingham, the National Lottery through Arts Council England, and the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, with support from cultural organizations across the city.
Nottingham Light Night takes place tonight and tomorrow night, offering a fantastic display of light-based art and entertainment throughout the city.
